Filipino Slang

source: urbandictionary.com

Jologs - 1. Derived from the combined words daing (salted fish), tuyo (a type of dried fish) and itlog (egg). Dyolog then became Jolog, a term for someone who is tacky, but implied in a more negative tone and often referred to people who belong to the lower class of society. 2. "Baduy", "skwating", tacky

Epal - (Adjective)A person who goes into a situation wherein his presence is not needed or in a place he does not belong. This person may be annoying or not in that instance.
(Tagalog)
Boy 1:"Anong ginagawa niyang gagong yan diyan?"
Boy 2:"Wala. Epal na naman."

(English)
Boy 1:"What's the hell is that fool doin' there?"
Boy 2:"Nothing. Epal again."

Jejemon - Taken from the internet / texting phrase " JEJEJEJEEJEJE " which states an act of laughing replaced with J because in other countries, J is pronounced as H. ( heheheheheheh ) Mon was is taken from Pokemon / pocket MONSTER.

They is the new generation of " jologs " who type in an annoying manner eg. " sticky caps " and changing some letters into characters / number ( A = 4, E = 3, etc. )

Rico Blanco released "Kahit Walang Sabihin"

source: myxph.com

There is no doubt that Rico Blanco is a gifted musician and performer. His success as a recording artist and his fanbase can attest to this, as well as his staying power in the music industry. His words and music have chronicled not only his own journey as an artist, they spoke to lives of his fans, and even casual listeners as well. Even after launching his career as a solo artist in 2008, he presented even more artistic bones with every project he’s immersed into.

Ever exceeding his artistic limits, Rico effectively turned into an actor as he took on the role of Lucas in the TV series “Imortal.” Acting, after all is an extension of his being a...

Folk U!

source: myxph.com

If you're a huge music fan, you'll know that you'll never run out of gigs to watch within the Metro. From Eastwood up north, to Metrowalk in Ortigas, to the homey comforts of Saguijo and The Collective in Makati, there will always be someone playing good music to watch. But in case you're getting tired of hearing amped guitars and heavy drum beats, maybe it's time to check out something else.

That right there is a dilemma. Is there an alternative to alternative music as we know it? Smart of you to ask, and fortunate of you that we have the answer. If you want to just spend the night chilling with a glass of your preferred Below Zero beer and swaying to gentle beats and melodic croons, raise your hand and say, "Folk U!"

Good Day Skabeche!

source: myxph.com

On its eleven years of being together Skabeche as a band, there is one thing that really makes them united—it is their love for the country and for what is essentially good about the Philippines as a whole as they showcase it in every music video they have.
In their latest music video titled, ‘Good Day’ is one that simply narrates a story of a mad doctor that imprisoned all the rest of the band members, but all of them struggled and got their freedom. The song’s lyrics are not even about love, but it is simply describing the surroundings around them. It’s freeing them and enjoying the new day they all have.

PRESS STATEMENT: "If you're looking for an album with an old soul and a youthful flair, look for the CD that reads Hit the Ground Running by The Bloomfields. The band is composed of Louie Poco (bass and vocals), Rocky Collado (drums and vocals), Lakan Hila (lead Guitar and vocals), and Dino Pascual (rhythm Guitars and vocals).

"The Bloomfields have taken it a notch this time by releasing original tracks as opposed to their debut album, which were mostly covers of '60s rock songs. This second album, however, still has their characteristic upbeat, mod vibe but with a Filipino twist.

Congratulations to Nescafe Grand Winner - Ajka!

source: myxph.com

Nescafe 3-in-1 Soundskool 2010 Grand Winner AJKA formally signed an exclusive recording and management agreement recently with Sony Music Entertainment Philippines Inc. The group, which represents De La Salle University, has bested more than 1,000 hopefuls during the competition garnering 46% of the total votes.

For a band that was just formed in 2008, AJKA has experienced major victories compared to others. Most notable is their win in the 2010 Nescafe 3-in-1 Soundskool college band search.

Flashback when they just got together. This band garnered first place in an interschool Battle of the Bands with an original song that would also lead them to their recent milestone. Coincidence? Destiny? Whatever you call it, this proved to be a shape of things to come.
